Full Description

PRN 22324 Medieval pottery found some thirty years ago at about TF 423 225 by the present owner's father. Thumbed base and wall sherds of Grimston face jug, also large sherds of brown sandy textured bowl, unglazed, with thumbing on inner surface of rim, which is unturned. Alan Carter (of Kings Lynn) says latter is not unlike Grimston but they have no thumbed form nor white specks in fabric, as here. It has been recorded and pot is drawn.{1} During a fieldwalking survey, a scatter of 23 sherds of 13th to 18th century pottery was recovered, thought to be the result of manuring.{2}{3}
