Archaeological fieldwalking was undertaken on circa 3ha of land, prior to a proposed residential development of 47 detached dwellings, in order to collect and plot pre-19th century material, and to identify distinct areas of activity. A 20m by 20m grid was laid out and walked comprehensively. The fieldwalking took place in dry sunny weather after the application area had been ploughed and left to weather.{1}
