Full Description

Said to be an ancient Romish chapel but no information of any importance is obtainable. See 22283 and 22284 for stone coffins etc from Chapelgate.{1}{2} (Illegible on OS card)......perambulation at the published site which is now used for soft fruit.{1} AN EVALUATION, INCLUDING GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY AND TRIAL TRENCHING, ON THIS SITE IN 1992 FAILED TO IDENTIFY ANY REMAINS OF A MEDIEVAL CHAPEL. {2}{4}
