Full Description

Many Roman coins were found at 'Gigglesburn' when a ditch was dug before 1724. It is thought that the former farm of Jiggle's Hurn, to the south-west of Gedney, may be the location for the find. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5} 'At Gedney Hill several Roman coyns have been found, some of Antoninus are in your collection'. The hoard was recorded in a letter from J. Britain, 1723, to Maurice Johnson. 'Johnson, in a footnote to the letter, attributes the coins, then in his collection, to Gallienus to Theodosius II'. {6}
