Full Description
HURN CROSS STOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD. SITE OF CROSS. {1}
THE THATCHED CHAPEL OF ST. MARY AT HOLBEACH HURN, WHICH IS MENTIONED IN 1534, WAS SUPPRESSED BY EDWARD VI AND SOLD ABOUT 1550. A TERRIER OF 1653 REFERS TO THE LATE HURN CHAPEL. THE SITE WAS 'HARD BY' GRASSLAND STOW, WHERE HURN CROSS STOOD. A POT WAS DUG UP IN 1828 ON THE SITE OF THE CROSS. {2}
