THE PROBABLY EARLY C15 PREACHING CROSS AT HOLBEACH WAS PULLED DOWN IN 1683. THE SITE WAS PROBABLY THAT OF AN EARLIER CROSS;THOMAS DE MULTON, LORD EGREMONT, OBTAINED A FAIR AND MARKET FOR HOLBEACH IN 1253, AND A CROSS IS MENTIONED HERE IN 1273. THE PUBLISHED SITE FALLS ON A ROAD JUNCTION. NO REMAINS ARE KNOWN BY THE TOWN AUTHORITIES. {1}
