Full Description

St Mary's Church, Cowbit, is said to have been built about 1400 as a chapel in the parish of Spalding. The chancel and massive west tower were added in 1487. Restored 1882. In normal use. {1}{2}{3}{4} The church was built in 1380, the tower was built and the nave extended in 1480-86. It was restored in 1882. It is built in coursed limestone rubble, limestone ashlar, red brick with ashlar dressings and a lead rood. Inside there is a triangular headed pisicina in the south wall of the nave.
