Full Description

Cropmarks of ditched enclosures linked by droves to adjacent groups, and partly obscured by later parallel drainage ditches, visible on APs, surveyed December 1950 and March 1952. There are no surface indications of occupation.{1} Group of Roman settlement sites observed and surveyed 1950-52 by Mrs S J Hallam. Air photos show ditched enclosures, drove-ways, later drainage ditches. {3} LARGE COMPACT SETTLEMENT WITH INDUSTRIAL SITES WITH LATER PARALLEL DITCHES. FIELD NETWORK CONTINUOUS SOUTH AND NORTH EAST ALONG DROVE. WELL-DEFINED PATCHES OF SOIL AND RELIEF CONTRASTS, INTERSECTED BY IRREGULAR STRIP DIVISIONS, WIDE BELT OF RAISED SILTY PATCHES FROM SSSW TO NNE, LOW CLAY AREAS MARKED OFF BY PEATY DITCH LINES TO NORTH WEST AND EAST. {4}{5}{6}
