Full Description
Watercourses, droves, fields and enclosures at Green Bank, Crowland, visible on APs, surveyed by C W Phillips in 1933, by S J Hallam 1951, and by Nenquin. Vast quantities of late C1st-C4th sherds of pottery, quern fragments, bones and shells, came from extensive domestic site 'B'. At TF30931266 saltern debris was found at 'C' - TF30831260, and baked clay at 'A' TF311274 and 'D' - TF30911254. APs show extensive and concentrated cropmarks over very wide area.{1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7} Crop - no surface evidence of occupation.{1} AREAS OF SALTWORKINGS AND SETTLEMENT, WITH VAST QUANTITIES OF POTTERY, BONE SHELL, AND BRIQUETAGE WERE IDENTIFIED. THIS SITE IS WITHIN AN AREA OF EXTENSIVE RB CROPMARKS (SEE 20246). {5}{8}{9}, AREA 0.74HA, HTM 3.5M
