Full Description

AREA OF RB ACTIVITY. THE CROPMARKS SEEN ON APS DO NOT SUGGEST SETTLEMENT LIKE OTHERS IN THIS AREA. {1} During a watching brief, a shallow ditch or hollow, aligned east-west was excavated. This feature was at least 75m long, although its width was unknown. Although undated, it is thought that this ditch was a field boundary, and is probably associated with the Romano-British settlement and field system which are part of this record. Briquetage found on this site confirms the production of salt in this locality during the Late Iron Age or early Roman period.{3}{4}
