Full Description

A former level crossing keepers cottage at The Causeway. The crossing was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was single storey, constructed of yellow brick and featured a slate roof.The upper parts of the original walls were pebble-dashed between the timber pillasters. A wedge-shaped projecting window was to the west, overlooking the adjacent railway track. An extension was added to the north end. A yellow brick outhouse and timebr sheds were added in the garden at some point after 1905. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}{2}
