Full Description
A former level crossing keepers cottage at Drainside Road. The crossing was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was of two storeys, constructed of yellow brick and featured a slate roof. A two-storey extension and single-storey lean-to were added to the eastern side at some point before 1905. An unusual feature of the building was that the western wall beside the track was recessed by 5 inches and there were no protruding windows to give views along the line. A red brick outhouse was added to the garden. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}
