Full Description

A former level crossing keepers cottage at Drainside Road. The crossing was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was single storey, constructed of yellow brick and featured a slate roof. Extensions were added in the 20th century to provide a toilet at the north-west corner and a new entrance porch to the west wall. The main room projected from the north-eastern corner to give views along the adjacent railway track. A red brick toilet and wash house was added in the garden at some point after 1905. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}
