Full Description

A former level crossing keepers cottage at Green Lane. The crossing was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was single-storey, constructed of yellow brick and featured a slate roof with a long overhang. An extension was added to the northern end in 1905. Pebble dash facing was on the south and west walls, including that of the extension. A window protruded on the south-west corner to give views along the line and road. A wash house was built in the garden after 1905, connected to the house by a flimsy wooden passage. A separate red brick toilet was built sometime later. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}
