Full Description

A former level crossing keepers cottage at Green Lane. The crossing was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was of two storeys, constructed of yellow brick and featured a slate roof with a long overhang. A two-storey extension was added to the eastern end before 1905. Pebble dash facing was on the top floor of the original building. The main room projected slightly to give a view down the line. A timber shed, red brick outhouse and red brick toilet were added in the garden before 1905. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}
