Full Description

PRN 13287 THE EARLIEST PHASES IN TRENCHES 2 AND 5 OF THIS EVALUATION WERE OF 14TH CENTURY DATE. THE DEPOSITS CONTAIN LARGE QUANTITIES OF POTTERY, BONE, LEATHER AND WOOD. ALSO THERE APPEARED TO BE STAKE HOLES AND ASSOCIATED OCCUPATION DEPOSITS. EVIDENCE SUGGESTS MEDIEVAL TIMBER FRAMED BUILDINGS ON A SIMILAR ALIGNMENT TO THE SURVIVING POST MEDIEVAL BUILDINGS. TO THE N OF THE SITE IS AN AREA OF MARSH/SHALLOW WATER AND EVIDENCE INDICATES EARLY ATTEMPTS TO RECLAIM THIS LAND. {1}, HTM 17M
