IN 1658 THE COMMON POUND FOR THE WEST SIDE WAS REMOVED FROM PINFOLD LANE AND SET UP ON THE SITE OF A BUTTERY PIT IN FURTHEND LANE (NOW WEST STREET). {1} THE POUND IS MARKED ON BOTH HALL'S (1741) AND ARMSTRONG'S (1779) PLANS OF BOSTON. {2}{3}
