Full Description

Earthworks of a probable Second World War searchlight battery, to the south-west of Rippingale. The site appears to comprise a number of circular searchlight positions or gun emplacements, measuring between 10m and 5m in diameter, with a possible rectangular building platform to the south-west, and a probable trackway linking the possible platform and circular features. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} All of the earthworks appear to have been removed by modern ploughing activity, and no trace of the site can now be seen on the Google Maps aerial imagery layers. {2}
