Full Description
During an archaeological excavation on land to the north of Narrow Lane, Belchford, features indicating post-Medieval activity were identified. A pit containing 18th-19th century pottery was found truncating a possible occupation layer, from which butchered bone and 16th-17th century pottery was recovered. This layer sealed a ditch interpreted to be of a similar date, although no dateable finds were recovered from its fills. {1}{2}
