Full Description

A feature was uncovered during archaeological trial trenching on land north of London Road, Kirton. The feature was 6 metres wide and 0.9 metres deep, with a steep north side. The feature roughly corresponded with geophysical anomalies, and was identified as a pond. The excavated area contained pottery sherds of 13th to 15th century date, fragments of post-medieval ceramic building material were also found within the feature. {1}{2}
