Full Description
A two storey farmworker's cottage of probable mid 19th century date. It has a two bay front elevation, and is build in dark brown brick under a pitched gabled roof of modern concrete tiles, with a single stack on the west gable. It has undergone significant modern alteration including the widening of window openings, the installation of uPVC windows and the blocking of the original front doorway opening. A mid 20th century single storey flat roofed extension to the rear now provides access to the property, as well as linking it to the adjacent two storey red brick barn/store, which has also been converted for domestic use. Internally, the cottage is in a state of disrepair and suffering from damp caused by repointing with a hard cementatious mortar. A number of extant original features remain, however, including the staircase and timber panel partitions. {1}
