Full Description

A possible robbed-out long barrow recorded on land to the west of Caistor High Street, South Willingham, during geophysical survey in 2008. The possible barrow was recorded as a north-south aligned U-shaped anomaly and was noted as a hollow in the field by the surveying archaeologist. The interpretation as a robbed-out barrow is an uncertain one and it is suggested that the remains of a 19th century quarry pit is a more probable origin for the hollow. {1}
