Full Description
The chancel of the Church of St Guthlac is Norman with later insertions. The rest of the fabric is perpendicular, restored in 1853-4. The church is in normal use. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
Parish church dating from the 12th century, with 13th, 14th and 15th century additions, and restored in 1853 with a vestry addition. The building is of limestone ashlar, some of which is rendered, and features lead and decorative tile roofs. The church has a clerestoried nave, aisles, western tower, chancel, south porch and vestry. The 15th century tower is of three-stages, and features a moulded plinth, two string courses, embattled parapet and stepped corner buttresses with blank shields.
