Full Description
Evidence of Medieval food smoking was found at this site during trial trenching in April 2014, in the form of a pit containing a blackened fragment of roller-stamped tile from a fish smoker of 13th to 15th century date, as well as quantities of oak charcoal and deteriorated wood bark recovered from an environmental sample. A series of Medieval pits and ditches were also encountered, one of which truncated an earlier beam slot. {1}{2}
