Full Description
A series of former farm buildings, originally part of the complex of the Manor farmhouse (MLI91042) before being partially sold off. The buildings were most likely constructed with the farmhouse c.1590, with 19th century alterations. Historic mapping shows that the buildings were part of a larger farm complex (MLI127500) that was subsequently demolished in the late 20th century. The buildings were converted into dwellings.
The buildings appear to show three phases of construction, and consist of a northern range running east to west and a western range running north to south and an outbuilding to the southeast, originally part of a north to south running east range which has since been partially demolished. The northen range is constructed of course limestone with a corrugated iron roof. Evidence of former buildings were present on the exterior. The building was divided into a stable, and a barn located on the east end with a granary above. The barn was likely used for small scale threshing in the 19th century. On the west end is a single building forming the second phase of construction, comprising of handmade English bond brick with a corrugated iron roof. The building appears to be the surviving remnant of a larger extension of buildings, and was likely to have been a purpose built loose box for animals in need of extra care and feed store. The west range is 19th century in origin being part of the final phase and is made of machine made brick in English bond, with a pantile roof. The outbuilding to the southeast is made of course limestone with a pantile roof, the western acade shows 19th and later repairs and alterations. The use appears to have been accomodation for animals. {1}{2}
