Full Description

Two cut farthings recovered from land at Churchill Avenue, Horncastle, during an archaeological excavation in March-June 2014. One was a farthing of King John dating to 1205-1210 AD, class Vb2 to class Vc. The other was a farthing of King John, dating to 1205-1210, class Vb1 to Vb2, or of Henry III, 1216-1222 AD, class VIc2 to VIIa3, minted at Canterbury. {1}{2}
