Full Description

8 sherds of pottery were uncovered during a watching brief on Cecil Francis Business Park, Bear Lane, Pinchbeck. The sherds were found in a buried soil horizon found in all three excavated plots, and were dated from the mid-12th century to the mid-17th century. The soil layer also reveaed clay pipe fragments and animals bones of post-medieval date, suggesting the deposit was relatively late in date. The sherds are though to be certainly residual, being possibly the result of manuring of an orchard that existed on the site prior to the business park. {1}{2}
