Full Description

A series of pits representing mid 5th to early-mid 6th century activity were encountered on land to the east of Middle Street, Burton by Lincoln, during an archaeological excavation in August-September 2021. Finds recovered include Anglo-Saxon domestic pottery and butchered animal bone, and an environmental sample produced significant amounts of mixed grains, including wheat, barley and oats. Residual Roman finds including a 4th century copper alloy coin, Imbrex tile and pottery were also recovered. {1}{2}
