Summary

An undated north to south oriented gully distinct from the furrows on the site (MLI116267) was recording during trial trenching in 2021 at Land North of Doddington Lane, Claypole as part of an evaluation scheme in advance of a residential development. The feature was thought to predate the furrows.

Full Description

A linear feature identified as a possible gully was exposed in 2021 excavations at Land at Doddington Lane, Claypole. The feature returned no dating information but was considered earlier than the furrows in the trench(MLI116267), and was oriented approximately north to south. By comparison the furrows are oriented appriximately east to west. The feature was approximately 0.7m wide and 0.18m deep. {1}
