Full Description

A copper alloy jetton dating to the late 16th-early 17th century recovered from land at Milestone Lane, Pinchbeck, during trial trenching in September 2016. On the obverse, a central rosette surrounded by three crowns alternating with three lis. On the reverse, a Reichsapfel (imperial orb). It is similar to jettons minted by Wulf Lauffer in Nuremburg from about 1580 to 1630, though this example has nonsense legends and may be an illiterate copy. {1}{2}
