Full Description

Mid-19th century farm buildings at Keal Farm, South Ormsby cum Ketsby. Originally a compact regular U-plan courtyard complex, only the West Range and part of the North Range are now extant. Historic mapping shows an attached east range, as well as a shelter shed or cart shed to the south of the North Range with an open south elevation leading to the crewyard. Much of the north range was still extant in 1977, but has since fallen into ruin or been demolished. The surviving West Range comrpises a single storey red brick stable, under a pitched gabled pantile roof. It had three stable doors in its west elevation, with two further doors leading into the crewyard to the east. Internally it is divided into two loose boxes with a probable tack room. To the north of this was a single storey cartshed, only the south wall with doorway into the crewyard and west wall of which now remain. To the east of the former cartshed is a single storey red brick barn, under a pitched gabled pantile roof. Separate from this main complex is a possible former workshop and the foundations of possible glasshouses to the west of the main house. The footprint of a possible pheasantry can also be seen to the east of the farmstead. {1}
