Full Description

Keal Farm, South Ormsby cum Ketsby. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {1} A statement of significance and heritage impact assessment were undertaken on the farmhouse and surviving agricultural outbuildings at Keal Farm in 2022. The farmstead dates to the mid-19th century, and originally comprised a two storey farmhouse with a single storey service wing to the rear and a compact regular U-plan courtyard farmstead complex with a south facing crewyard. The farmhouse survives with little alteration, but only the West and North Ranges, a stable and barn respectively, are extant. The south and west walls are all that remain of a former cartshed in the northwest corner of the complex. A Dutch barn was built to the north of the original complex in c.1980, and there is also a modern covered yard to the east. {2}
