Full Description

The Alford War Memorial Hall was built following the closure of the former Alford and District War Memorial Hopsital in 1990 (see MLI126962). A local group known as the Friends of Alford Hospital rasied enough funds appoint John Roberts Architects of Lincoln to design a new memorial hall, with the building work being by local builder W.Coffey. The construction works were completed in time to allow the official opening of the building on the 7th January 1994. The building is single-storey, and built of red brick with a steeply-pitched slate roof. The south-eastern entrance porch carries the name of the building, with further dedication plaques also being sited on the south-eastern elevation. The hall is used for a variety of local services, including frquent use as a day centre. {1}{2}{3}
