Full Description

Single-storey village hall at Mareham le Fen, built of timber with exterior metal cladding. The exact date of construction is a little uncertain, but the building is thought to have been opened in 1920. It was puchased by the village as a memorial to those of Mareham le Fen who fought in the First World War, along with the adjacent Memorial Lawn (see MLI126481). A wooden dedicatory board within the hall states that 'This hall has been erected to the honour and memory of all our Mareham men who fought in the Great Wat from 1914 to 1918. A more permanent war memorial was unveiled at the cemetery to the north of the village in 1922 (see MLI125273). The hall was replaced in the early 21st century by a new Community Centre off Horncastle Road, and is now largely unoccupied. {1}{2}
