Full Description

A system of Iron Age enclosures on land between Bourne Road and Swinstead Road in Corby Glen. A D-shaped enclosure has been excavated, confirming its Iron Age origin from pottery recovered in the feature. The enclosure probably had an internal bank and its entrance was probably at its northern end, past the limit of excavation. An unexcavated set of enclosures located to the south of the D-shaped enclosure were detected in a geophysical survey. These enclosures are probably associated and contemporaneous with the excavated D-shaped enclosure. All these enclosures were probably used for livestock management and may have also used a now-dissapeared seasonal stream which abbuts the enclosures. {1}{2}{3}
