Full Description

Former Public House. Large late Victorian brick building, two/one and a half storeys, with simple dormers on the front elevation, under a pitched gabled tile roof. One ridge stack. Large decorative moulded date stone reads 1898 THE PLOUGH INN. Dentil course between storeys. Small single storey brick outbuilding to the side, with gabled pantile roof. Built to replace a previous building on the same site, also called the Plough. White's 1856 Trade Directory names William Bruntlett as 'victualler' at the Plough, and the 1872 Directory names Charles Appleyard. Closed in 2010. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
