Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

The remains of four linear ditches were recorded in this location in July 2022, during archaeological monitoring of the construction of a new residential dwelling. It was thought likely that the ditches functioned as former drainage or boundary features, although no dating evidence was recovered from any of their fills, and their exact origin remains uncertain. None of the ditches are depicted on historic mapping of this area, however, suggesting they may pre-date the surveying of this location, possibly representing part of the medieval village layout. {1}{2}
