An 18th century red brick and pantile roofed building located on the South Ormsby Hall estate. Formerly part of the southern section of a larger building in a working farm complex of three detached outbouildings. This work complex was constructed at some point in the 18th century, probably the mid-18th century, around the same time the Hall was being rebuilt. The work complex, apart from the surviving building, was demolished at some point between 1841 and 1888. The complex is associated with Park Cottages (MLI125873) just to the east. As of February 2021 the derelict building was under proposal for conversion into accomodation, with plans to maintain the overal exterior fabric and appearance. {1}
A scheme of archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at Lincoln Reds Lookout between 2021 and 2022. The building is to be converted into a holiday let with associated car parking. An uncovered brick wall to the north of the building has been attributed as being part of a building of the work complex which appears in 19th century mapping. The report of this scheme of archaeological monitoring and recording contradicts the previous building survey carried out. The authors interpret that Lincoln Reds Lookout was not present in an 1803 map of the estate. {2}{3}
