Full Description
During a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording on land at Stocks Lane, Faldingworth in 2016, two ditches were identified. The first was oriented north-south and veered slightly to the north-west. Its terminal was not discovered. The second ditch was immediately parallel to the first to the east. It had a shallower, truncated profile due to later plough activity, and only a remnant survived. Both of these ditches were truncated by a medieval pit, and so are medieval or earlier in origin. It is considered that they are both probably of the same contemporary field system, representing two adjacent elements rathe rthan the realignment of the same boundary. It is thought that the second ditch is the earlier of the two features due to its heavier truncation. {1}{2}
