Full Description

During a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording on land at the Crown Hotel Car Park, West End, Holbeach, a series of two pits were identified in the area of the foundation trenches of the two buildings being constructed. The pits did not contain any finds, but were tentatively dated to the medieval period due to the overlying post-medieval buried soil horizon. To the south a deposit or fill was encountered, but the cut could not be identified. This deposit did not contain any finds, but was also potentially of medieval origin due to the overlying post-medieval buried soil horizon. {1}{2}
