Full Description
During a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording on land off 46 High Street, Navenby, a former medieval ground surface was identified in foundation trenches for a new house. The deposit measured 0.2m thick, and contained five sherds of 13th-14th century pottery, as well as animal bones, including from cattle, sheep/goat, dog and pig, most likely representing butchery waste. The deposit also contained a few larger pieces of limestone rubble, which may have derived from demolition material. {1}{2}
