Description

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new dwelling and separate garage on land off 46 High Street, Navenby. The monitoring area encompassed foundation trenches for the garage, the foundation trenches for the house, and trenches for services. A medieval deposit was identified which likely represented a former ground surface, containing limestone rubble fragments, 13th-14th century pottery, and animal bone. Two sherds of residual late 10th-12th century pottery were recovered from a modern topsoil layer. No further archaeological features or finds were identified. {1}{2}
