Full Description

Single-storey outhouse located to the east of the former farmhouse at 20 High Street. It is built of coursed limestone with brick detailing to the window and openings, and has a pitched roof of clay pantiles with a brick chimney stack at the southern gable end. The exact date of construction of the outhouse is uncertain, although it is believed to pre-date the former farmhouse to the west (see MLI125885). It might most likely date to the 18th century, although earlier origins could well be possible. The remains of a formerly blocked well lies in close proximity to the outhouse. The well was cleaned out and repaired in 2002-3, when parts of a lead and iron pipework system were noted as still in situ. This pipework would suggest connections previously existed to former hand pumps around the well, as well as a likley direct supply to the main former farmhouse. {1}{2}
