Full Description
Two robber trenches representing late post-medieval walls were recorded in October-November 2015 during a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording on land to the west of Kettlethorpe Hall. The first was oriented east-west, and measured 1.25m wide and 0.4m deep. It was backfilled with loose demolition debris dating to the 19th/20th centuries. Located approximately 50m to the south of this feature were the possible truncated remains of an east-west aligned wall, measuring 8.8m in length. This feature would likely have had an agricultural purpose, and was unlikely to be a large structure due to its poor quality masonry. {1}{2}
