Full Description

19th century former farm buildings, depicted on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map. The buildings are depicted as two adjoining ranges, arranged in an L-shaped pattern around a regular courtyard. The northern range originally extended across much of the plot frontage, although the western part of this range had been removed by 1971, as seen on historic mapping of this area. The surviving part of the northern range consists of a small, two-storey barn, built of brick with a pantiled roof. The lower parts of the east and south wall are built of limestone rubble walling, patched with brick. A small pitching hole with a plank and batten door is to the upper western gable end, and a blocked window is visible towards the western end of the lower northern wall. This northern wall continues to act as the property boundary, and is likely a remnant of the lost part of this range. The east range is attached to northern barn but projects slightly from it, further towards the east. At its northern end is a three bay, open-fronted former cart shed beneath a pantiled roof. It is brick-built, although the visible lower part of the eastern wall is constructed from limestone rubble, like the northern barn. As the reange moves south, there follows a slightly taller, though still single-storey, two bay brick building, and another four bay single-storey brick building. Both of these structures have pitched pantile roofs. The latter two buildings were converted into an annex to the main house during the late 20th century, but could have formerly functioned as a stable and tack room or workshop. A modern greenhouse or conservatory has been added to the southern end of the range. {1}{2}{3}
