Full Description
The former farm buildings at Crowtree Farm were the subject of a programme of historic building recording, conducted in June 2020, prior to their proposed conversion to residential use. The buildings date to the mid 19th century, and were originally in the form of a roughly U-shaped complex of 3 ranges, with an attached farmhouse to the west. This complex had undergone major alterations by the 20th century, with the north-western range and farmhouse being demolished, and a modern glasshouse, associated furnance block and packing sheds being added to the east. The south-eastern and north-eastern ranges of the original complex were still extant at the time of the survey. The south-eastern range consisted of 2 adjoining structures; the first being a 2 storey barn, with the second being a single-storey outbuilding attached to the first's southern elevation. Both structures had gabled roofs covered in red pantiles and were built out of red brick in mixed bonds. The larger barn had 2 interior rooms, both open to the rafters. The second outbuilding had one complete room, and the ruined remains of a second. The north-eastern range was comprised of a single-storey, red brick outbuilding, and featured a gabled roof covered with red pantiles.
