Full Description

The remains of two intercutting pits were recorded in this area in October 2018, during archaeological monitoring of the construction of new residential dwellings at Holly Lodge, Spalding Road. Two pottery sherds from mid 15th to mid 16th century Toynton type jugs were recovered from the fill of the earlier pit, indicating a late medieval date for the origin of these features. A fragment of late post-medieval roof tile also found in the pit fill was thought to be a later intrusion. {1}{2}
