Full Description

The cart shed and granary building at Castle Farm was included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in April 2017 , prior to the proposed redevelopment of the farm buildings. The building is thought to date to the mid 19th century, being constructed at around the same time that the east and west ranges were extended (see PRNs 58308 and 58309). It is a 2 storey, 4 bay building with a pitched pantile roof. The building was constructed out of ironstone rubble, but it has been extensively altered and the western elevation was rebuilt in brick laid in Stretcher bond. There were 3 open bays on the ground floor, although one has been partitioned and the entrance closed off with brick. The fourth bay, at the northern end of the building, is open into the 1st floor granary. The building was demolished in 2019. {1}{2}
