Full Description

The west range of outbuildings at Castle Farm were included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in April 2017 , prior to the proposed redevelopment of the farm buildings. The range is comprised of a number of stable blocks, that are believed to have been constructed in a number of phases from the early to mid 19th century. The southernmost portion of the building is the oldest, and the central and northern sections were added to provide more stables as the farm grew. The different sections are all single storey brick structures, laid in English Garden Wall bond, and they have pitched pantile roofs. It appears that the southern room may have been used as a milking parlour at some point. The buildings were demolished in 2019. {1}{2}
