Full Description

The east range of outbuildings at Castle Farm were included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in April 2017 , prior to the proposed redevelopment of the farm buildings. The range is believed to have been constructed in a number of phases from the early to mid 19th century. The original building was extended several times to create the building that is now found to the north of the crewyard. It is single storey building with pitched pantile roofs. It is constructed out of stone rubble with repairs in red brick. The southernmost building was built first and is likely contemporary with with curtain wall around the crewyard. This portion of the building was a milking parlour. The central building was a cattleshed, and the northernmost building and the extension off the southwest elevation were used as loose boxes. The buildings were demolished in 2019. {1}{2}
